National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Posted in Those that need help tagged , , at 1:35 pm by Every Cent Counts

April 1st begins National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Here are some startling statistics about sexual assault, according to the CDC:

  • 20% to 25% of women in college reported experiencing an attempted or a completed rape in college.
  • 10.6% of women reported experiencing forced sex at some time in their lives.
  • 2.1% of men reported experiencing forced sex at some time in their lives.

These statistics are alarming. This means there is a good chance that you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted in the past. Many people choose not to report sexual assault, meaning these statistics are probably far lower than the actual rate at which sexual assault occurs.

Should you or someone you know need help you can contact the Crisis Center anytime 24 hours a day by dialing 211 or visiting our website at:

If you would like to contribute to a client of ours that has been sexually assaulted and help them get back on track visit the Every Cent Counts website, at www.everycentcounts.org
